The Shape of Light brings together five painters whose distinct practices meet through a shared sensitivity to sunlight, shadow, colour and constructed space.
The exhibition uses light as a curatorial thread rather than a fixed subject. Across the selected works, sunlight falls across walls, floors, figures, objects and architectural surfaces, altering how each space is seen and felt. It sharpens edges, flattens façades, divides interiors, intensifies colour and gives ordinary scenes a heightened sense of stillness or tension.
Together, the works create a focused conversation around the physical and emotional charge of sunlight: how it lands, divides, warms, conceals and reveals, and how it turns the everyday into something carefully constructed.
Brutalwares is an Acrylic Painter based in the North-East UK, and the pioneer of "Hyper-Brutalist Painting".
Creating a unique body of work based on an extreme fascination with Brutalist Architecture and the pursuit of the perfect concrete texture, Brutalwares uses his own formulaic painting technique known affectionately as “Tactile Concrete Manipulation” to achieve this, which has been mastered over years of intense trial, and is still evolving.
Brutalwares' work aims to try and challenge people’s perceptions on Brutalism, and promote beauty in the mundane.

My name is Brutalwares. I’m an artist that loves to paint concrete.
Why do I love to paint concrete? I’m obsessed with Brutalist Architecture.
My goal is to share that passion with the world, challenge a few perceptions
on how people view Brutalist Architecture and the interesting beauty of
concrete, and perhaps help them see it in a more positive light, as I do.
The mundane has never looked so beautiful.
