“Looking Up At Concrete is one of a series of paintings based around Peterlee’s Apollo Pavilion, in which the artist explores various forms of Brutalist structure to present it in a more positive, calming light and challenge people’s perceptions that concrete and Brutalist Architecture has to be dull, mundane, or unaesthetic.”
This artwork is presented on gallery wrapped canvas and is ready to hang as presented, with pre-drilled holes in the back of the frame in the middle of the left and right sides, suitable for ring or mirror plate hanging if required. It can be framed, but please be aware that this will cover any edges of the painting, which extend around the sides of the canvas frame.
Each artwork comes with an exclusive Certificate of Authenticity (COA), hand-signed by the artist, as well as a personal letter of thanks containing additional context around the artwork.

The Commodity

“The Commodity is one of a series of paintings based around the idea of questioning how we interact with our urban surroundings through the lens of Brutalist concrete. This particular piece takes a look at a snapshot of the texture found in a typical urban space, and prioritises it as the focus of the work. A lone painted price sticker sits as a commentary on how even the most mundane everyday objects are valued, and what preconcieved notions influence that valuation.”
This artwork is presented on wood panel and housed in a modern, light wooden tray frame. This work is ready to hang as presented, or can be easily unscrewed for an alternative frame. Attached to the back of each frame is a standard sawtooth picture hanging fixture. This is lightly screwed in as a standard fixture, and is designed to be removed if a different hanging fixture is preferable or required.
